NEWS FROM THE GOLDEN K KIWANIS CLUB OF DECATUR

The Golden K Kiwanis Club of Decatur regularly awards up to five $1,000.00 college scholarships for students. The scholarships, awarded in conjunction with the Community Foundation, are given based on academic achievement, but since Kiwanis’ primary objective is serving others, individual service both within the school and in the community are considered.
This year, some 69 students applied for the Golden K scholarships. After very careful consideration, Golden K has proudly awarded scholarships to Adrianna Hammons of MacArthur High School, Lydia Marion of Mt. Zion High School, Brooklyn Kondritz also of Mt. Zion High School, Elizabeth Cornett of Warrensburg-Latham High School, and Noah Suckow of Unity Christian School. These scholarships are funded in part by the club’s fundraising efforts including their recent golf outing and the annual peanut drive scheduled for September 19 and 20.
