Real Men Wear Pink is back for 18th Year

DECATUR, Ill. — School is back in session, football players are playing on Friday nights and the Real Men Wear Pink campaign is back for another year! HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign is entering its 18th year promoting breast cancer awareness and encouraging women to perform self-breast exams and schedule a yearly mammogram.

“We love this program because we are reaching a unique audience in these young men,” said Valerie Jordan, Director of Oncology Services at St. Mary’s Hospital. “The students are receiving so much support on the sidelines and it’s their turn to return the favor by supporting the women in their lives, encouraging them to take a moment for themselves and schedule a mammogram.”

Early detection is a critical tool to help save lives. HSHS offers convenient online scheduling of mammograms at www.myHSHS.org or by phone at 217-464-2976.

Local businesses like Maverik Marketing, Main Place Real Estate, Central Illinois Media Group and the Boomtown Podcast support the Real Men Wear Pink campaign in many ways. If you would like to support the campaign, stop by one of the many Pink Games in the area throughout September and October to cheer on your favorite team and promote breast cancer awareness.
