DECATUR CITY COUNCIL PETITIONS AVAILABLE

DECATUR – Individuals interested in running for the Office of Mayor or one of the three available seats on the Decatur City Council for the 2027 municipal election can obtain petitions at the City Clerk’s office, located on the second floor of the Decatur Civic Center, #1 Gary K. Anderson Plaza. Additionally, these petitions are accessible online through the City’s website at www.decaturil.gov/161/City-Clerk.

Petitions must contain the signatures of 45 registered voters.

The 2027 Consolidated Primary Election, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, February 23,
2027. The 2027 Consolidated Election will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2027.

Candidates must be United States citizens, registered voters, age 18 or older and must reside within the city limits for one year preceding the election. Nominating petitions may be filed in the City Clerk’s office from 8:00 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2026, through 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2026.
