Barn Colony Artists 84th Annual Spring Show To Open May 1

     Barn Colony Artists 84th Annual Spring Show will open Monday, May 1 in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center, 125 N. Water, downtown Decatur. The show will run through May 24.
     The public is invited to attend the Live After Five Reception at the gallery May 3, 5-7pm. The event is free and open to the public. The Blue Connection, featuring the work of Millikin students; as well as Gallery 510, will be open.
Gil Rocha will be judge for this show. Mr. Rocha received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from Illinois University in DeKalb in 1977. He earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from Northern Illinois University in1989 in drawing and printmaking with a minor in art history. He retired December, 2023 from teaching studio and art history 36 years. He is self-taught in the application of color pencil and has had pencil works appear in several books on color pencil drawing.
     Barn Colony Artists will present a new creative element in this show: Copycat Corner. Members have produced copies of their favorite works by the masters. The public is invited to vote for their favorite in the show, and the People’s Choice award for the most popular artwork will be presented. Watercolor, acrylic and oil, and black and white and colored drawings will be on display. Photography, mixed media and pottery are also featured.
Many pieces will be offered for sale in the Spring Show also.
     Barn Colony Artists meet each Wednesday, September through May, from 3pm to 5pm at the Madden Arts Center. Guests are always welcome.
