The Rotary Club of Decatur #180 is excited to announce nearly $10,000 in community grants. Grant recipients include:
Big Blue Backpacks – $700
Children’s Museum – $2,450
Dove – $2,331
Gallery 510 Arts – $500
God’s Shelter of Love – $1,500
Macon County Farm Bureau – $1,500
YMCA – $1,500
Grant Committee chair, Tim Stock, said: “This year’s group of applications was one of our largest in six years, with requests totaling over $45,000. It is great to see so many great projects moving forward in our community. We greatly appreciate everyone that applied and hope they will apply again in the future.”
Rotary’s Mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. The organizations selected for funding align with Rotary’s mission and will have a tremendous impact on the Decatur community.
Rikki Parker, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Illinois, said Rotary funding will be used to create a quiet space for nursing mothers and children to decompress when they are overwhelmed by the active Museum.
“The Children’s Museum of Illinois is always exploring ways to become more inclusive for families. Providing an updated quiet space away from the busyness of the Museum has been on our to do list for over a year. We are grateful to Rotary for their continued investment in the Museum and the children we serve.”
Grants will be awarded at Rotary Club of Decatur’s February and March meetings.
