Decatur Area Arts Council announces the August 2022 exhibit in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center, 125 N. Water St. in downtown Decatur. Entitled “Midwesterner,” the exhibit will be open August 5-25 and will feature paintings by Bloomington, Illinois artist Douglas C. Johnson. Johnson will speak briefly about his art at 6 pm. The event is open free to the public. For more than thirty years, Doug Johnson has been a landscape painter. His paintings serve to document the artist’s deeply felt experience of America’s Midwest. With these artworks, he deftly explores its communities and byways as part of our communal participation in our environment. Johnson earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in studio art at Illinois State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree at Northern Illinois University.
