UPDATE: CORRECTIONAL OFFICER TERMINATED FROM EMPLOYMENT IN SHERIFF’S OFFICE

UPDATE:

Decatur – On April 6, 2026 James Davis was terminated from his employment with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. His criminal proceedings are still pending.

BACKGROUND:

Decatur – On March 31, 2026 at approximately 11:50 pm, a Correctional Officer with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by Decatur Police Department at the Circle K gas station on West Eldorado Street, Decatur. James Davis, a 46 year old male, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer and Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer.

Davis was transported to the Macon County Jail where he was processed and released with a Notice To Appear. His initial court date is set for April 14, 2026.

Davis has been employed as a correctional officer since October 2000. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation and the criminal proceedings.
