Forsyth – On March 30, 2026 at approximately 1150p Macon County Deputies were sent to the AMC Theater at the Hickory Point Mall in Forsyth for the report of a burglary in progress. Multiple deputies and a K9 officer responded and secured the perimeter after seeing signs of forced entry into the abandoned building. When deputies entered the building they discovered two men inside who were in the process of stealing copper pipes, electrical wiring and breaker boxes, and other building material.
Michael Large, a 43 year old male, and Kelsey Sandage, a 40 year old male, were apprehended without incident and charged with Criminal Damage to Property over $100,000, Burglary, and Possession of Burglary Tools. The suspects admitted that they had entered the abandoned theater a least four time over the past weeks. The initial damage to the theater was discovered just last week and deputies working in the Forsyth area were prepared for the latest entry in the building.
Both were taken to the Macon County Jail where they were eventually released with Notice To Appear. Their first court date will be April 14, 2026.
