Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity Temporarily Pauses Operations to Reorganize and Strengthen Mission
The Board of Directors of Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity has made the decision to temporarily pause all operations, effective today, Friday November 21,2025, through the end of this year.
This includes the ReStore and Christmas Shop.
This is not a permanent closure. It is a strategic step to reorganize and strengthen our organization so we can continue serving families in need for many years to come. Our mission remains unchanged: to build and improve affordable housing for families in need, creating strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
We anticipate reopening early next year and look forward to continuing our work alongside the incredible support of our community.

We deeply appreciate the ongoing support from our volunteers, donors, and partners. Together, we will continue building homes, communities, and hope.

So sad to read about the closure of Habitat for Humanity – several of us had planned on going there today to purchase some items. Anyway they can open up until the end of the year? Or at least one day to liquidate their Christmas store items? This was a shock it happened so fast!

We really miss the Decatur Restore. Are you really planning to reopen?
Ready to have the place open again. I always enjoy shopping in the place as well as donating. The people working and setting things up in the store are so nice to deal with!
