PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED ON SOUTH SIDE DRIVE

At approximately 2250 hours on 1/3/25, Decatur Police Officers were dispatched to the 600-700 block of South Side Dr reference a personal injury accident.

Initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Chevy Equinox was traveling eastbound in the right lane of the 600-700 block of South Side Dr. A pedestrian was in the roadway in the 600-700 block of South Side Dr. The Chevy struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the Chevy was a 64-year-old male and a Decatur resident. The driver did not sustain any injuries. The pedestrian was a 48-year-old male and Decatur resident. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.

There were no indications that the driver of the Chevy was under the influence.

Members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and are investigating the crash. .
