Macon County Conservation District Announces 8th Annual Summer Concert Series Lineup

Decatur, IL – Get ready for another summer of great music in the great outdoors with the Macon County Conservation District’s 8th annual Summer Concert Series.

This free outdoor concert series sponsored by Stifel Investment Services is held every other Sunday in the summer, and features a variety of bands and performers that play Americana, bluegrass, folk, old-time, country, and more. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

This year’s series kicks off on June 2 with Cactus Ranch, who have opened the series every year for the past eight years. They will play some country and bluegrass tunes and set the tone for the rest of the summer. On June 16, Celtic Whistle will take the stage again to delight the crowd with Irish music and lovely harmonies. On June 30, another returning favorite, the Hood Family Band, will take the stage playing folk, Americana, and bluegrass tunes.

The second half of the series brings some new performers to the Rock Springs stage. On July 14, the husband-and-wife Americana duo, Corn & Cotton, will play for the audience. Nick Dittmeier & the Sawdusters will take the stage on July 28, bringing a set of Americana, country, and Southern rock that is sure to please. The final performer of the season, Tim Crosby, will close out the concert series on August 11 with some Americana and roots music.

Each hour-long performance begins at 7pm and will be held near the pavilions at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Snacks will be available for purchase, and in the event of rain, the concert will move indoors to the Rock Springs Nature Center.

Rock Springs Conservation Area is located on the southwestern edge of Decatur.  To get to Rock Springs from Decatur, go south on Route 48 and turn west onto Rock Springs Road, or go south on Wyckles Road and turn east onto Rock Springs Road.  Watch for signs.  Plenty of parking is available.
