Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations Meeting At Public Library May 21

The public is invited to attend the May meeting of CONO (Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations) on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm in the Madden Room of the first floor of the Decatur Public Library, 130 North Franklin Street.
Representatives of any neighborhood organizations are encouraged to present project ideas to the CONO board for potential grant funding and to discuss security cameras. Susan L. Zielke, Managing Attorney of the Eastern Regional Office of the Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, will also make a presentation explaining the services offered by the agency. City engineer, Robert Weil will also attend to distribute information about lead in water pipes and what is being done in Decatur to solve this issue.
The purpose of CONO is to support the formation, development, and empowerment of grassroots neighborhood organizations within the city boundaries of Decatur, Illinois, by sharing ideas with, and providing moral support to, neighborhood representatives, by promoting skills development (i.e., training opportunities and technical assistance) and by promoting neighborhood and political awareness.
The CONO hosts public meetings the third Tuesday of each month. It is a free forum that is open to any resident. Meetings typically last one hour.
