Decatur Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Of 65-Year-Old Man

     On April 15, 2024, at approximately 6:48 p.m., the Decatur Police Department responded to 838 S. Jasper Street regarding the report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 65-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds.

     Officers immediately secured the residence to preserve evidence. Detectives with the Decatur Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division were called in to interview witnesses and process the crime scene. Multiple shell casings were located near the deceased 65-year-old.

     The Decatur Police Department does not believe this incident to be a random act of violence. The investigation is ongoing, and the Decatur Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance.
