DECATUR – On February 13, 2024 at approximately 1215p the Macon County Courthouse Security Division received a phone call from an individual who threatened to “shoot up” the courthouse and specifically any police officers he found inside or outside of the facility. The caller was specific about the time it was going to happen and how he intended to commit the act.

Macon County Sheriff’s Detectives, with assistance from the Central Illinois Regional Dispatch Center, was able to locate the caller and take him into custody. The person was identified as 20 year old Bryan McClellan of Decatur, Illinois. He was charged with Terroristic Threats and remains in custody pending a detention hearing this afternoon at 130p.

The Macon County Courthouse was not evacuated during the incident due to the increased amount of people in the building for jury week. Courthouse officials were made aware of the situation but due to the expedient work of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office in locating and arresting McClellan the decision to resume normal operations was made.

Terroristic Threats is a Class X felony in the State of Illinois.

This incident remains under continued investigation.
