WDCR Decatur Catholic Radio Sponsors Corpus Christi Procession Event

 

     

 

 

 

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, WDCR Decatur Catholic Radio and Decatur area Catholic Parishes celebrate the Feast Day of Corpus Christi with a walking procession with the Holy Eucharist. Corpus Christi is Latin for the Body of Christ. The event begins at 1:30 pm with Adoration at St. James Church, 742 East Clay, Decatur. Then at 2:30 pm walk to St. Patrick Church, 407 East Eldorado Street, Decatur. The procession is .7 mile. Transportation is provided for those unable to walk.
     The public is welcome to attend. Refreshments following the service at The Hall at Five-Twenty provided by the Knights of Columbus.
The Corpus Christi procession is a centuries-old tradition of the Catholic faith to process the Real Presence of Jesus – the Eucharist – in public. The Feast of Corpus Christi was established in Liege, Belgium, in 1247.
     Additionally on June 11th the Vatican International Exhibition of The Eucharistic Miracles of the World will be on display at St. Patrick Church from noon to 5 p.m. The exhibit explains Eucharistic Miracles which occurred over the centuries in various countries that are recognized by the Catholic Church.
