Millikin’s Knudsen named to Academic All-America®

         DECATUR, Illinois—Millikin University junior women’s basketball player Elyce Knudsen (Philo, Tolono Unity H.S.) was named by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) to the 2022-23 Academic All-America® Women’s Basketball First Team for NCAA Division III on March 15. The Academic All-America  program® recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

          Knudsen was Millikin’s top scorer in 2022-23 averaging 22.3 points per game. She ranks second in the country in total points with 647 and is sixth in scoring average.

She averaged 4.8 rebounds with 78 assists, 68 steals and 19 blocks. Knudsen was the CCIW Lori Kerans Student-Athlete of the Year and a unanimous CCIW First Team selection. On Tuesday, she was named the D3hoops.comRegion 9 Player of the Year and named to the All-Region First Team.

          Knudsen is a Finance major with a 3.90 grade point average.

          Knudsen is the 82nd Millikin University student-athlete to earn Academic All-America® recognition and is the ninth women’s basketball player to be honored.

          Today, Knudsen was also named of one 10 finalists for the prestigious Jostens Trophy sponsored by Jostens, Inc., to recognize the most outstanding men’s and women’s Division III basketball players of the year. The awards focus on three major criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess, and service to one’s surrounding communities.

The Division III CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions III Academic All-America® programs.
