City seeks feedback on potential Sunday bus routes

Decatur, IL – The City of Decatur is seeking community feedback about adding Sunday service to the Decatur Public Transit System (DPTS).

Residents are encouraged to submit responses to the following short survey: https://bit.ly/3xhe92o. There are only a few questions to answer and a section to write in additional comments. You can also leave comments on the City of Decatur social media pages as well as the DPTS Facebook page.

The addition of routes on Sunday could accommodate individuals who work on the weekends, or who choose to shop for groceries and other supplies on this day. The proposed routes make a stop at most major grocery stores in Decatur, including all three Kroger locations and both Walmart locations.

Funding to bring Sunday routes into service would come from a combination of regular rider fees and state and federal operations grants. It would not result in an increase to current bus fares. If added, Sunday bus fares would be the same as M-Sat fares. Current transit fares can be found here: https://decaturil.gov/departments/transit/information/.

DPTS is also considering the addition of paratransit on Sundays. Service area and fares would remain the same.  The booking process would also remain the same – must be booked 24 hours in advance.
