Mussels in the Sangamon River Event on Aug. 20

Friends of Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park and Memorial will meet on August 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the Railsplitter Pavilion. Come and learn about the life cycle of mussels and help to look for them in the Sangamon River. They will also look for and identify insect larvae that rely on the river for their early life stages. They will be wading in the river so wear old, closed toed shoes and plan to get wet. For additional information email Jeannie Barnes at jespaleum1@aol.com or visit the website at https://lincolntrailhomest.wixsite.com/friends-lth.

The park is about 10 miles straight west of Decatur. Take Route 36 past Harristown to Lincoln Trail Memorial Parkway, go south four miles. The park is on the east side of the road.
