MAC ON SPORTS: LINCOLN BOARD OF EDUCATION TO VOTE MAY 17 ON CENTRAL STATE 8 INVITATION

J. Thomas McNamara
The Lincoln board of education will vote Monday May 17 on whether or not to accept a Central State 8 invitation to rejoin the league.
At Monday night’s May 10 informational meeting, Lincoln board members heard multiple reasons why the majority of Railers fans want the school to accept the May 2nd invitation to rejoin the league.
It would become effective in 2022-23.
At the present time there are 10 CS8 members—Chatham-Glenwood, Jacksonville, Decatur Eisenhower, Decatur MacArthur, Springfield Southeast, Springfield Lanphier, Springfield High, Springfield Sacred Heart, Rochester and Normal University High. Lincoln would become the 11th member.
The CS8 probably will become a two division football conference when 11th member Lincoln rejoins. Each would play five conference games
Since leaving the CS8 for the Apollo, Lincoln basketball fans have not been pleased with the long-distance travel to eastern most rivals—Charleston, Mattoon and southeast outpost, Teutopolis. Mount Zion is caught in this middle of conference tug-of-war.
