MAC ON SPORTS: APOLLO CONFERENCE VOTES TO FOLLOW IDPH

J. Thomas McNamara
Members of the Apollo Conference that Mount Zion is a member has voted to follow the guidelines for basketball that Gov. J.B. Pritzker, his Illinois Departemtn of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education established.
That means the Braves will not be carrying out any practices or games next Monday when the Illinois High School Association said it was going to start its basketball seasons for boys and girls.
In a statement the Apollo said the league will engage in practices that are aligned with the ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education) and public health guidance, which now puts the ‘higher risk’ basketball season on hold.”
I will have more on this developing story in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune. The IHSA Board of Directors is meeting later today (Wednesday) to discuss a survey it took of its members and when they wanted basketball to be played.
