MAC ON SPORTS: LADY BULLDOGS WIN CIC GIRLS TOURNAMENT

St. Teresa had to go overtime tonight (Thursday, Jan. 30), but Andrea Dorsey’s lady Bulldogs finally ended Central A&M’s and Tuscola’s hold on the championships of the Central Illinois Conference tournament with its 52-50 win.
This is the sixth year for the tournament and Central A&M won three and Tuscola two titles of the first five.
Addison Newbon led the winning Bulldogs with 24 points.
Sullivan and St. Teresa advanced to last Thursday night’s Central Illinois Conference girls tournament championship game with wins over Tuscola and Clinton, respectively. The Redskins turned away the Warriors, 46-29. The Bulldogs defeated Clinton, 47-37.
Tuscola took home third place Tonight (Thursday) with the lady Warriors 51-46 overtime victory.
In a week ago Monday night’s consolation bracket Central Illinois Conference girls basketball tournament play at Shelbyville, Warrensburg-Latham and Central A&M defeated Meridian and Shelbyville, respectively.
The lady Raiders won the consolation championship Wednesday night by beating the lady Cardinals, 37-32. Shelbyville defeated Meridian, 61-36, in the other consolation bracket game.
Warrensburg-Latham defeated Meridian 40-33 and Central A&M outscored Shelbyville 80-70. In one of those games, the lady Raiders Channing Reed scored her 1,000th point where more information on her achievement follows.
