$8,000+ Raised for Sabastian Smallwood and His Family

Mt. Zion, IL – Four Mt. Zion churches raised funds to help Sabastian Smallwood and his family with extreme medical expenses.

The Mt. Zion Community Benefit committee selected 12-year-old 6th grader Sabastian Smallwood. He has a brain tumor
and has undergone surgery, treatments and physical therapy while traveling or staying in St. Louis. Locally, he is very active in Mt. Zion Scout Troop 43, enjoys video games, and watching WWE wrestling.

The committee presented a check of $8,000 + $120 in gift cards to the Smallwood family. Members from our four local participating churches held various fundraisers which included silent basket auctions, special offerings, a spaghetti dinner, donations from members and the public.

The four participating churches are Mt. Zion Presbyterian, Our Lady of the Holy Spirit in Mt. Zion, Long Creek United
Methodist Church and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

The Smallwood family appreciates everyone’s love, prayers and the support as they fight this fight with Sabastian.
