Let’s Talk Data Centers: Our Water, Our Power, Our Communities, will take place on Wednesday, July 29

   Soy City Indivisible, along with several statewide environmental groups and
nonprofits, invites Decatur and the surrounding communities to join an
upcoming conversation focused on the growth and significant impact of data
centers on the water resources and energy systems, and how communities can
take action.
     Let’s Talk Data Centers: Our Water, Our Power, Our Communities, will take place
on Wednesday, July 29, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Madden Auditorium at
the Decatur Public Library. The event is free and open to the public; registration
is encouraged. Registration links and media assets are provided at the bottom
of this document.
     The event will also be livestreamed on Soy City Indivisible’s Facebook page and
YouTube channel.
     As data centers rapidly expand across Illinois, organizers are working to ensure
communities statewide have access to clear, plain-language information about
how these developments may affect local water supplies, energy demand and
utility costs, and environmental health.
     Community participation is encouraged at this free event. The program agenda
includes:
     A brief overview of the data center landscape in Illinois and Macon County,
including the latest developments and news;
     Insights into potential impacts on water, energy, and the environment;
     Relational information pertaining to the Broadwing Energy Center; and
     A Q&A session with presenters.
     The host and organizers of this event want to extend a special invitation to
members of the Macon County Board, the newly appointed “Citizens Volunteer
Advisory Committee (CVAC)”, the Decatur City Council, and all other city and
township board and council members.
     The event’s host is Soy City Indivisible, along with event organizers Prairie Rivers
Network, Citizens Utility Board, and Illinois People’s Action.
