Theatre 7 Announces Cast of the Upcoming Production of the Inspirational Musical ‘Come From Away’
DECATUR ‒ To open its 2026-27 season, Theatre 7 is excited to announce the cast of the inspirational musical Come From Away.
This musical takes you into the ‘heart’ of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded airline passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them with open arms. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
“Though this story was triggered by the tragic events of September 11, 2001, this is NOT a September 11th story. It is a September 12th story – an uplifting celebration of the best that people can be through their acts of kindness, gratitude, and human connection,” said Director Jerry Johnson.
These twelve local actors each play multiple, unique characters to tell the stories of both the Islanders and the Plane People:

- Morwin Coney as Actor 10-Bob
- Evan Miller as Actor 11-Claude
- Mitchell VanZant as Actor 12-Nick/Doug
Come From Away is co-directed by Jerry Johnson and Doug Bishop. The production team includes the talents of Vocal Director Sarah Boline, Musical Director Andy Rauff, Choreographer Kathy Zientara, and Costume Designer Dina Fryman.
Come From Away will be performed September 11-13, 2026 (7:30 pm, Friday & Saturday and 2 pm. Saturday & Sunday) in the Albert Taylor Theater on the campus of Millikin University. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.theatre7.org or at the door at each performance. This show is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
Theatre 7’s 2026-27 season includes Come From Away in September 2026, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some) in December 2026, and Rock of Ages in May 2027.
