DECATUR FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO HOUSE FIRE AT 123 NORTH ILLINOIS

At approximately 9:37 p.m., on June 12, the Decatur Fire Department was dispatched to 123 N Illinois St. for a report of a house that was on fire.
Upon arrival, fire crews observed smoke and fire showing from the structure. First-arriving companies immediately began fire attack operations. Engine 1 advanced a charged hose line into the building and began extinguishment efforts. Truck 2 performed vertical ventilation to improved conditions for interior crews.
Simultaneously, additional crews established a continuous water supply, advanced additional charge hose lines, and conducted a primary search of the structure for any occupants.
No civilian injuries were reported.
One occupant is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Following suppression efforts, the Decatur Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit responded to investigate the cause of the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
