Richland Community College Welcomes New Trustee to the Board

Maryann Albers
DECATUR, IL — Richland Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Maryann Albers, Principal at Chastain & Associates LLC, to the Richland Community College Board of Trustees.
Albers brings more than two decades of professional experience and deep community involvement to the Board. She joined Chastain & Associates in Decatur 22 years ago, starting in the administrative and accounting department. Over the years, her leadership, expertise, and dedication have earned her the role of Principal, effective January 1, 2025, where she oversees all administrative and accounting functions across Chastain’s six offices in Illinois and Indiana.
Prior to her tenure at Chastain, Albers held positions with Kemper Insurance, Citizens National Bank, DECU, Dansig Insurance, and SIKITCH (formerly SDMTL Accounting). Beyond her professional achievements, Albers has long been active in community service. She has volunteered with local Parent Teacher Organizations, youth ball associations, participated in the Blue Mound Fall Festival, and served as Township Clerk for Blue Mound Township since 2017. She has also worked for Macon County Elections for many years, serving as both an election judge and, most recently, a zone leader.
“I’ve always strived to be active in my community, starting with PTO and ball association participation when my children were young, to being active with the Blue Mound Fall Festival,” said Albers. “With my appointment to Principal at Chastain, I wanted to find another role where I could apply my experience and make a meaningful impact. When the opportunity arose to fill the Richland Board vacancy, I felt an immediate pull to learn more.
Richland Community College is a staple of our community and has a huge opportunity to affect change and provide opportunities for residents and businesses within Macon County,” she added. “I’m excited to now be part of Richland and will do what I can to help the college continue on its amazing path of benefiting Macon County.”
Richland’s President, Dr. Cristobal Valdez welcomed the new trustee, noting that her business insight and community engagement will strengthen the Board’s leadership and vision. “We’re thrilled to welcome Maryann Albers to the Board of Trustees,” said President Valdez. “Her experience in leadership, finance, and community service aligns perfectly with Richland’s mission to empower students and support local growth.”
Albers will serve on the Richland Community College Board of Trustees through 2027, completing the remainder of the term for the late Tom Ritter.
