Law Enforcement Living Legends Event Oct. 19

On Saturday, October 19, 4pm to 6pm (doors open at 3pm) at Doherty’s Pub, 242 E William St, History of the Heartland will host their fourth Living Legends event.
This event will feature Macon County Law Enforcement Heroes. Jim Williams, former Police Chief and City Manager, will return to Decatur to host this story sharing event.
Former Chief Todd Walker and former Sheriff Jerry Dawson have also confirmed their attendance. Macon County Law Enforcement are included and expected to participate in the event.
Previous Living Legends events have focused on Fans Field and minor league baseball in Decatur, Decatur Fire Fighters, and Decatur High School 1960’s era basketball teams. “We are fortunate to have so many people who have contributed so much to Decatur be willing to share their serious and some not so serious memories with us on video to capture the stories of our people. We created this series for that very reason to preserve the stories of our people,” says History of the Heartland founder, Ayn Owens. “We want many retirees to come and tell their stories and memories as well,” continues Owens.
All former and current law enforcement staff are encouraged to share stories and memories at the event. The public is encouraged to attend. There is no admission charge and attendees may purchase food and beverages on their own. The event will take place in the back room of Doherty’s and will be videotaped for the History of the Heartland YouTube channel.
Law enforcement wishing to participate are encouraged to call Ayn (217-791-1385) to confirm their participation in the event. The public may also call for any information needed.
