Golden K Kiwanis Club of Decatur Announces Program Schedule For August

The Golden K Kiwanis Club of Decatur has announced their upcoming program schedule for August:
…On August 7th, Tim Gleason, City the Decatur City Manager will share his vision for the city. This is Mr. Gleason’s second tenure as our City Manager, having returned after serving as City Manager in Bloomington, Illinois.
…On August 14th, the club will celebrate its 43rd birthday. As part of the celebration, Sean Streaty, News Anchor for WANDTV will remind us of the importance of Community Service. Mr. Streaty will also be presented with the club’s Community Service Award, honoring his 30 years of service with WANDTV, and before that with WSOY radio. Previous recipients of this award include Vinnie Barbee of Vinnie’s Barbee Q, Decatur Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe, and former Decatur Mayor/Decatur Tribune Publisher Paul Osborne.
…On August 21st, retired Illinois Power employee Ralf Henkel will highlight Egypt and its place both in the Middle East and on the World Stage. In retirement, Mr. Henkel has done extensive traveling abroad and will be sharing from his experience.
…And on August 28th, Tanya Melendez, Executive Director Good Samaritan Inn will give an Overview of the Programs and Services that they offer.
Golden K Kiwanis of Decatur enjoys changing our world for the better – by helping children and others. They are involved in supporting over 40 local organizations and activities. Programs and presenters are subject to change without notice. Meetings are held every Wednesday morning with a fellowship hour starting at 8:30 am and a program starting at 9:30 am at the Salvation Army, 229 W. Main Street in Decatur. Anyone who is interested in serving our community is invited to attend.
