Northeast Community Fund Announces Leadership Transition, Reaffirms Commitment To Community Mission
Northeast Community Fund, a cornerstone of care and compassion for individuals and families throughout Decatur and Macon County, has announced that Executive Director Angel Lawrence will conclude her service with the organization on August 3, 2026.
Since its founding, Northeast Community Fund has remained steadfast in its mission to strengthen and uplift the community by connecting people with resources in a caring, Christ-like manner.
Under Ms. Lawrence’s leadership, the organization expanded its reach and deepened its impact, growing programs in food distribution, emergency assistance, housing support, mobile outreach, student basic-needs services, and home improvement assistance, while cultivating meaningful partnerships across the region.
A Legacy Built for People
“This transition is an opportunity to honor the meaningful work that has been accomplished while keeping our focus where it has always belonged on the people and families who depend on Northeast Community Fund,” said Carmen Rivera, President of the Board of Directors. “We are grateful for Ms. Lawrence’s leadership and the role she has played in strengthening our capacity to serve. The Board remains fully committed to the mission and to ensuring that NECF continues to be a steady source of hope and help for this community.”
Ms. Lawrence reflected on her tenure with gratitude:

This work has never been about one person; it has always been about the families who walk through our doors, the staff and volunteers who serve with compassion, the donors and partners who believe in the mission, and a community that continues to show up for one another. I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together, and my hope is that NECF continues to grow stronger, serve deeper, and remains a beacon of hope for generations to come.”
Looking Ahead
The Board of Directors will launch a thoughtful search for NECF’s next Executive Director in the coming weeks, seeking a leader who shares the organization’s commitment to community-centered service and is prepared to build upon the strong foundation in place.
