FEMALE FATALLY SHOT IN 1700 BLOCK OF NORTH SUMMIT AVENUE, SHOOTER ARRESTED

     On February 14, 2026, at approximately 5:27 p.m., officers with the Decatur Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 1700 block of North Summit Avenue.
     Twenty-five-year-old Christian D. Luthy contacted 911 and reported that he had accidentally shot a female inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was transported by ambulance to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
     Luthy remained at the scene and was transported to Decatur Police Department headquarters for questioning. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division processed the crime scene and conducted interviews as part of the investigation.
     Based on the information and evidence gathered, Christian D. Luthy was arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter and transported to the Macon County Jail for booking.
