Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoe Rentals Open at Rock Springs Nature Center
Decatur, IL — The Macon County Conservation District announces that with the recent snowfall, cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals are now available at the Rock Springs Nature Center as conditions allow.
Rock Springs Nature Center offers cross-country skiing for ages 5 and up. There are trails for novice and experienced cross-country skiers. Four or more inches of snow is required for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Rental hours are open during regular Nature Center hours, and all participants and equipment must be back at the Nature Center by 4:30pm. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Cross-country ski & snowshoe rental fees are as follows:
$10.00 for 2-hour rental (includes skis, boots, and poles OR one pair of snowshoes.)
$20.00 for 24-hour rental (includes skis, boots, and poles OR one pair of snowshoes. Twenty-four hour rentals may be taken off-site.)
Rock Springs Conservation Area is located on the southwestern edge of Decatur at 3939 Nearing Lane. From Decatur, take Route 48 south and turn west onto Rock Springs Road, or head south on Wyckles Road and turn east onto Rock Springs Road. Watch for directional signs. Plenty of parking is available on-site.
