Update On Decatur Police Department‘s Response To Person Being Fatally Shot

 

     On May 5, 2023, at approximately 5:38 p.m., the Decatur Police Department responded to 153 W. Packard Street in reference to a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers located Travion S. Pickens with multiple gunshot wounds. Pickens was transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives with the Decatur Police Department responded to investigate the incident to include processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.

     Multiple spent shell casings were located at the crime scene. As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Deandrew L. Washington, 32, (DOB: 04-13-1991) for the charge of First-Degree Murder. On May 11, 2023, members of the Decatur Police Department and United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Deandrew in Decatur, and he was booked into the Macon County Jail.
