This afternoon, (Monday, Sept. 13), Argenta-Oreana officials announced it was pausing football to follow Covid-19 protocols.
Athletic Director Michael Williams released this statement to the media, “Over the weekend an Argenta-Oreana football player was confirmed to have a case of COVID-19. As a result of working with and at the direction of the Macon County Health Department, all football activities have been paused effective immediately through September 25.
“This pause will result in the Varsity games with Villa Grove (Sept. 17) and Tri County (Sept. 24) being declared forfeits.
“The football program will begin activities on Sept. 25,” concluded Williams statement.
Argenta-Oreana is the third Decatur and Macon County school to pause football activities with the other two being Decatur LSA and Decatur MacArthur.
I will have more on this developing story in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune.
