Decatur Fire Department Responds To Second House Fire At The Same Location

     Decatur, IL – At approximately 2:20AM on 04/22/2026, the Decatur Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of East Johnson Ave. Upon arrival, firefighters observed a house that was fully involved in fire. The neighboring house to the East was also suffering some damage because of the heat.
     Fire crews initiated an exterior, defensive, fire attack using large aerial water streams along with smaller handline water steams. The last fire units left the scene at approximately 5AM.
     No occupants were in the home at the time of the fire. This house suffered significant damage from a previous fire in February of this year.
     No injuries to civilians or firefighters have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Decatur Fire Department Fire Prevention Division.
