Dig Into Spring With Expert Tips And Workshops For All Gardeners At Illinois Extension Event

Jump-start your spring planning at University of Illinois Extension’s half-day educational event, hosted by the Macon County Master Gardeners. Whether you’re new to gardening or have years of experience, this event offers practical, research-based knowledge to improve your growing season.
Gardening Insights will be from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Life Foursquare Church, 2954 W. Ash Ave, Decatur. Registration opens at 7:45 a.m., and the event officially begins at 8:15 a.m. with an interactive garden trivia hosted by local Master Gardeners, who will share timely tips, lessons learned, and practical guidance for gardeners planning the year ahead.
Participants will have the opportunity to choose three sessions from a total of twelve, led by expert horticulturists and Master Gardener volunteers. This year’s topics cover a wide range of interests, such as bees, tree care, hummingbirds, garden soil health, growing ginger, and the history of gardening. In addition, three hands-on workshops will also be offered: using AI as a tool for garden design, winter seed sowing, and floral arrangements.
There is a $20 fee to attend Gardening Insights. Light refreshments will be available in between sessions. Participants should register by Feb. 22 at go.illinois.edu/GardeningInsights.
