Dawn Sterling

News Channel 20 is thrilled to announce the newest addition to our team, Dawn Sterling. She will join Stacey Skrysak on the evening news desk. With a rich background and extensive experience in Central Illinois, Sterling is bringing a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge to our viewers.

Dawn is a graduate of Central Michigan University. She began her news career in Binghamton, New York then worked at WTHI in Terre Haute, Indiana. She also worked for Sinclair-Owned WSMH in Flint, Michigan before moving to Central Illinois in 2004

Her in-depth knowledge of our local landscape makes her the perfect fit for the role of evening anchor at News Channel 20.

She says she’s looking forward to starting her new adventure.

“For 20 years I have made Central Illinois my home. My husband and I have created a life here, we’re raising our two children here. As a female, knowing your worth is important. Happiness is important. Once I met with News Director Heather Nodine and General Manager Robert Richardson I knew it was time for a change. I am so excited to get started at WICS,” says Sterling.

“Our goal is to take our local newscasts to the next level. What better way to do that than to bring in an anchor with years of experience in the local market. I see this as a win, not only for us, but for Central Illinois viewers,” says WICS/WRSP News Director Heather Nodine.

“It’s rare that you get to hire someone with Dawn’s skills and abilities with two decades of experience in the market” says WICS/WRSP General Manager Robert Richardson.

Dawn begins on-air January 15th and will co-anchor the ABC news at 5, 6, and 10 P.M. with Stacey Skrysak. Dawn will also make appearances on the FOX Illinois newscasts at 5:30 and 9 P.M.

Yay for Dawn joining WICS! I had been watching WAND because I enjoyed Dawn’s reporting plus her genuinely nice personality. When I heard her say on the news one evening that she didn’t do the Halloween stuff – she just decorated for fall, I could totally relate and knew why I liked her so well. So I will now tune in to WICS for news! Looking forward to her and Stacy working together. 👍🏼
