     We proudly introduce Michael Burkham, a lifelong resident of Macon County, as he embarks on a new journey as a candidate for Macon County Coroner.
     Born into a family deeply rooted in public service, his parents laid the foundation for his enduring passion for serving others when they established Decatur Ambulance Service in 1959. This lifelong commitment to serving others has been a guiding force throughout his journey.
     Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Millikin University, demonstrating his dedication to academic excellence. Over the span of four decades, he tirelessly served as a paramedic, and most notably, as the Director of Decatur Ambulance Service. In these roles, he touched the lives of countless individuals with his exceptional expertise and unwavering compassion.
Michael’s commitment to public safety extends beyond his paramedic role. For more than two decades, he volunteered with the Mount Zion Fire Department, showcasing his steadfast dedication to safeguarding our community.
     Michael has served as the Vice President of the Tyler Yount Foundation since 2013. In this crucial role, he has strengthened his connections with community professionals and organizations, reinforcing his dedication to enhancing the well-being of Macon County. Alongside his wife Kathy, they established the Tyler Yount Foundation in early 2013, after Kathy’s son Tyler, lost his battle with addiction. In 2015, the foundation received certification for overdose awareness and started the Emergency Overdose Responder Program. Since then, more than 500 individuals, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, corrections officers, probation officers, and those affected by addiction and their families, have been trained to administer naloxone during overdose emergencies.
     Michael Burkham’s campaign for the office of Macon County Coroner stands as a testament to his lifelong dedication to the welfare of our community. With your unwavering support, he pledges to continue making a positive impact and upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism in this vital role.
