MACON COUNTY CLERK ISSUES GUIDELINES FOR 2024 GENERAL PRIMARY PETITION CIRCULATION

September 5, 2023 will be the first day that candidates for the March 19, 2024 General Primary Election may begin to circulate petitions.  The following offices will file in Macon County:

Precinct Committeeperson

County Board Member districts 1-5

Auditor

Circuit Clerk

Coroner

Recorder

State’s Attorney

Candidates may obtain petitions, Statement of Candidacy forms, and other information at the Macon County Clerk’s Office, 141 S Main Street, Room 104.

The candidate filing period is November 27, 2023 through December 4, 2023.

The County Clerk’s Office will open early at 8:00 a.m. on the first day of filing November 27, 2023 and will remain open late until 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing December 4, 2023.

The County Clerk’s Office will not notarize any candidate forms and cannot give advice on how to complete the forms or the legal qualifications for office.
