Employee of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division Arrested on charge of Unlawful Delivery of Firearms to a Felon
DECATUR – On July 2, 2023 the Decatur Police Department arrested Adam Goodbrake for the charge of Unlawful Delivery of Firearms to a Felon. Goodbrake is a 5 year employee of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division.
The investigation revealed that Goodbrake had stored multiple weapons for a person known to him to have a felony conviction. The felon, Brandon Burwell, met Goodbrake when he was incarcerated at the Macon County Jail in September 2022. Goodbrake is alleged to have stored the weapons for Burwell at his Decatur residence in May 2023 and then returned the weapons to Burwell shortly before his arrest. Burwell was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Goodbrake is currently under administrative leave with the Sheriff’s Office pending the results of an internal investigation separate to the ongoing criminal investigation. This morning his bond was set at $30,000 and he remains in custody pending further court dates.
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office has zero tolerance for employees conducting criminal activities.
