Golden K Kiwanis of Decatur Announces June Program Schedule

The Golden K Kiwanis Club of Decatur has announced its upcoming program schedule through the end of June, 2023:

…On June 7, Golden K Kiwanis will have their annual scholarship presentation. 5 worthy students will receive scholarships to the college of their choice based on their academic achievements and involvement in the community.

…On June 14, former Mayor Paul Osborne will help Golden K to celebrate 42 years of service to Decatur and Macon County. Activities will include a special presentation, cake and a slide show highlighting the many service areas where Golden K has been involved through-out the years.

…On June 21, Evelyn Hood, the Executive Director of the African American Museum will explain the importance of our newest Federal Holiday: Juneteenth.

…On June 28, Hunter Martin, a Boy Scout working toward becoming an Eagle Scout, will give a presentation about the Pond Project. Pond Project, in Illiopolis, was built with a concrete bottom at the old munitions plant during WWII. Its purpose was a reservoir of water in case of fire at the plant. Hunter intends to revitalize the pond, stock it, fence it, and recirculate it, all for public use under the City of Illiopolis.

Golden K Kiwanis of Decatur enjoys changing our world for the better – by helping children and others. Programs and presenters are subject to change without notice. Meetings are held every Wednesday morning at 9:30 am at the Salvation Army, 229 W. Main Street. Anyone who is interested in serving our community is invited to attend.
