Dalton City Man Arrested After Executed Search Warrant In Theft Of Catalytic Converters
MACON COUNTY – Over the course of the past year several residents and businesses from the Decatur and Macon County area have fallen victim to the theft of catalytic converters. The impact on individuals and businesses has been costly as it costs more than $1,000.00 to replace these vehicle parts.
On February 25, 2022 a, multi-agency investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Greg’s Towing, located at 1320 IL Route 121, Mt. Zion, IL. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of Gregory W Hostetler, a 46 year old Dalton City resident, and the recovery of several dozen suspected stolen catalytic converters.
The investigation is one of several involving the theft and illegal sale of stolen catalytic converters in Decatur and Macon County. This investigation is ongoing with further arrests anticipated.
The arrest resulted from an undercover operation led by a Macon County Sheriff’s Detective who was assisted and supported by the Decatur Police Department Street Crimes Unit, Secretary of State Police and Illinois Commerce Commission Police.
