DECATUR POLICE DEPARTMENT NEEDS PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING ‘CRIME OF THE WEEK’
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. On January 3rd 2022, at approximately 3:00P.M. Decatur Police responded to the intersection of N Water / E Waggoner in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and observed numerous shell casings scattered in the roadway. A short time after this shooting a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital with a non-life- threatening injury.
The investigation revealed a black colored Chevrolet Equinox was traveling North bound on Water Street. This Chevrolet Equinox was observed to have tinted windows and a gray colored rear bumper. A front seat passenger in this Equinox was observed leaning out the window holding two handguns when he began shooting at the victim’s vehicle.
The Equinox was observed driving away from the crime scene N/B on Water Street towards Garfield. The front seat passenger of the Equinox was described as a b/m, in his 20’s, with short hair.
