MAC ON SPORTS: TOUGH TIMES FOR COACHES, ATHLETES

J. Thomas McNamara
With the guidelines changing almost hourly, schools and their coaches and student-athletes don’t know what they should do or not do.
State schools, including all those in Decatur and Macon County, open volleyball and football practices Monday.
Volleyball is an indoor sport with different rules/guidelines than football that is outdoors.
Volleyball coaches and their players have to be masked because it’s an indoor sport.
Football is outdoors where neither coaches nor players have to be masked but MacArthur coaches are being encouraged to mask at all times.
The Decatur Tribune will publish its special prep football preview edition Wednesday, Aug. 25.
I will have more on this developing and ever-changing guidelines story in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune.
