POLICE OFFICERS DISPATCHED TO SHOOTING IN 1100 BLOCK OF EAST DIVISION –8-YEAR-OLD WOUNDED
At approximately 11:22 PM on 07/28/21, Decatur Police officers were dispatched to an address in the 1100 block of E. Division reference a shooting. According to witnesses, subjects in a light-colored sedan fired multiple shots at the address. At the time of the incident, the residence was occupied by adults and juveniles, including an 8-year-old male. The 8-year-old male was struck by a fired round which passed through the exterior of one of his ears. The wound was not life-threatening.
The address is the residence of the subject who was shot at Lowber and Locust on 07/15/21 after the murder on Leafland the same morning. This subject was uncooperative about how he came to have been shot that night. He was also present when his residence was shot at during this in- cident but claimed to have no information. Additionally, one of the vehicles involved in the re- cent shooting incident at 27th and Faries Parkway on 07/27/21 was located at this same residence when the occupants fled from the vehicle and were apprehended, with a gun being recovered.
It is suspected this incident is connected to other recent shootings.
