MAC ON SPORTS: NOONAN BROTHER IS NEW BASKETBALL HEAD COACH AT ST. TERESA

J. Thomas McNamara

Cheer cheer for St. Teresa for doing the right thing by appointing Michael Noonan as its new basketball head coach to succeed his brother.
He replaces Tom Noonan, who served as Head Coach for the past 11 seasons.  Noonan has been an assistant Boys’ Basketball coach at St. Teresa since 2004. He was the Head Junior Varsity Coach at St.Teresa since 2010.
“Mike Noonan is dedicated to St. Teresa.  He is knowledgeable about the game and current players, and will assure continued success of the program,” said Larry Daly,Principal.
Athletic Director Todd Vohland stated, “Obviously, Coach Mike Noonan has played a significant role in our basketball program’s success for many years, but what is most impressive is his passion for St. Teresa.  As an alum,Mike cares deeply about continuing to impress upon his players the values that our school lives e brcauseby.”
In the interest of full disclosure, I wrote Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ken Hendriksen, Daly and Vohland a note after Tom resigned that Michael should succeed him.  Recently, I wrote that the school said teaching was taking precedence which frightened me some because I truly feel from my experiences of covering Bulldogs basketball that his continuity with the returning players and incoming athletes that he was the right man for the job  at the right time.
Obviously, I’ll have more on this developing and breaking story in a future print edition,
