Thanks To Exceptional Neighbor Who Made The Day Special
Dear Sir:
Sunday, July 12, was a special day. It was my first opportunity in four months to attend worship at Grace United Methodist Church. On my way home I needed to stop at a grocery store to buy a roasted chicken to take to a friend’s house for Sunday lunch.
It is a challenge to go shopping. These days a mask is needed, social distancing is expected, and since I wear glasses, often my glasses are foggy. I managed to find the prepared chicken and go to check out. Machines have replaced most of the clerks in the check-out lanes at Walmart North.
The gentleman behind me points to an empty machine and I remarked that I will need help, since I don’t know how to deal with these machines. He very kindly tells me he can help and before I know it, the chicken is in the bag and as I try to get my money ready to pay my bill, he tells me that it is already paid for. Thanks and blessings to an exceptional neighbor who made July 12 a very special day for this old lady!

Evil Politics Are Dividing Us More And Trying To Destroy America
Dear Paul Osborne:
“Play Ball”…the umpire said. After months of delay due to COVID-19, Major League Baseball had opening day of the 2020 season on a late July summer day. No fans in the stadiums. No food vendors. But there was TV coverage. Yet after watching one-half of the first inning of the July 24, 2020 Cubs vs Brewers opener…it was enough. Our TV is off. No MLB any time soon at home. We never expect that “America’s very own National pastime game of baseball” would be used to divide us. We are the “One Nation Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for All.”
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain the establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Sadly, there are people who hate America and everything our Nation was founded upon. All around our Nation, we see deaths, uncontrollable mobs, gangs, civil disobedience, violence, destruction of property and unacceptable attacks on good, dedicated police everywhere. Destroy our good and bad history? No, we need it so that we do not repeat the bad of it!
We all mourn together at the shocking violent, evil crime that took Mr. George Floyd’s life. There will be justice by the courts and the dismissals of bad police. But none of what is happening now is about Mr. Floyd.
Evil politics are dividing us more and trying to destroy America and using major league baseball as a weapon against ourselves. What a disgrace to allow politics and greed for money and power to destroy us. The MLB team players are wearing shirts to honor a group whose very own leader publicly supports the destruction of all statues, symbols, and stained glass windows symbolizing Jesus Christ.
That group boldly rebels against all Holy Scripture teachings, particularly concerning marriage, gender and family. That leader is rebelling against God, Our Creator. Then we saw that MLB teams all over the county are kneeling. Now our National Anthem is to be eliminated?
What a dishonor to all of those who have given their lives to protect America, our Constitution, our freedoms. What a dishonor to all of those former baseball heroes: Jackie Robinson, to name just one great hero! Baseball Legends – from all races and nationalities – who have helped change America for the good of all of us! How senseless and tragic! Where is the wonderful true spirit of baseball?
Our personal letters have been sent to the MLB Commissioner and other baseball team officials. But only God can change hearts. Ours and yours. “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”. 2 Chronicles 7:14
