MAC ON SPORTS: TIM YEAKLEY RESIGNS DECATUR CHRISTIAN BOYS BASKETBALL COACH POST

J. Thomas McNamara

Decatur Christian is looking for a new boys basketball coach to succeed Tim Yeakley, who will not return next season as the Warriors head coach after years of serving the program in a number of roles, including as head coach.
“I have enjoyed coaching in various roles the past 6-7 years, but am ready for a break.  I appreciate your coverage of the team!,” wrote Yeakley.
Steve Hohm, DCS adminstrator, said he truly appreciates Tim’s vision and passion for DCS boys basketball.  “I truly appreciate the time he’s invested in the boys basketball program.  He’s a friend and I wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Hohm said DCS will take some time in finding his successor until they know what their enrollments will be this fall and what their future roster may look like for 2020-21 since they graduate six seniors this season.  With the COVID-19 situation and the uncertainty surrounding all schools, Hohm said he’s delay the hiring until he sees how things shake out later this summer when their enrollment is known.
Registration hasn’t begun yet, but the early numbers indicate it will be around the 171 it was this year for all levels.
I will have more on this developing story in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune.
