J. Thomas McNamara

Central A&M Plays for State 1A Title,
Thanksgiving Tournaments Underway

While all eyes in Assumption and Moweaqua will be looking ahead to Central A&M’s Friday’s 10 a.m. kickoff in Huskie Stadium on the Northern Illinois University campus in DeKalb, all but four of Decatur and Macon County’s other schools will be playing in Thanksgiving tournaments scattered around central Illinois, including right here in Decatur.
The Cerro Gordo, the Mount Pulaski, the New Berlin and the Gibson City/Melvin-Sibley tournaments began tonight (Monday, Nov. 25). The 50th annual Caterpillar Decatur Thanksgiving begins Tuesday night at Stephen Decatur Middle School, featuring Eisenhower, MacArthur and Mount Zion.
Warrensburg-Latham plays at GCMS, Meridian is at New Berlin, Cerro Gordo/Bement and           Sangamon Valley are at the Cerro Gordo event, and LSA is at Mount Pulaski.
Decatur Christian plays in the Normal Calvary tournament that begins Friday.
Maroa-Forsyth, Central A&M, Argenta-Oreana and St. Teresa open next week.
The Decatur Tribune will be following all the action and will have a complete wrap of the tournament results and Central A&M’s football championship in a future print edition.
The McNamara family, including the chef of Irish Stew, wishes everyone a very Blessed Thanksgiving and don’t do too much shopping on Black Friday and, if you do, make sure it’s done locally to support our local businesses.
