Normal–Brad Dalton’s St. Teresa volleyball team made history Friday afternoon with their 25-22 and 29-27 win over Rockford Lutheran.
But they aren’t finished as they expressed in their post-game press conference where they want to add another chapter to the lady Bulldogs volleyball history books as they want to win the Class 2A championship.
Their Friday afternoon victory assures them of the best finish in school history as last year’s squad held that mark with their third place finish, and this year’s edition can finish no worse than second.
Winning the second set and the match was not easy as Dalton cited Lutheran’s serving ability as the reason why his team struggled to win. “They were serving lasers out there,” quipped the second year head coach in response to my inquiry.
I’ll be back in Redbird Arena Saturday afternoon for their championship match against Breese Mater Dei, who they have beaten at the Quincy Notre Dame Invitational a couple weeks ago, but Dalton said about the rematch, “The loser of that match has the advantage tomorrow. It should be a fun match.”
