MAC ON SPORTS: THREE CHEERS FOR WAL-MART’S DECISION ON VAPING

J. Thomas McNamara

Three cheers from the chef’s kitchen on the Wal-mart Friday announcement that it is discontinuing selling all e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking products.
Wal-mart is discontinuing sales of e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking devices amid mounting concerns about potential health risks associated with their use, the company confirmed on Friday.
“Given the growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity and uncertainty regarding e-cigarettes, we plan to discontinue the sale of electronic nicotine delivery products at all Walmart and Sam’s Club U.S. locations,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.
It’s only a coincidence Wal-mart’s statement comes a day after I wrote in last week’s Stew about vaping and what the Trump Administration, the Illinois High School Association and the National Federation of High School Associations are doing to stop students from using the dangerous products.
I will have more on this developing story in a future print edition of the Decatur Tribune.
